A Kitchen You’ll Want To Cook In

Jun 22, 2016

If the kitchen is the heart of your home, has yours flatlined?  If you no longer enjoy being in your kitchen due to an outdated, dull look then it’s time to revive your kitchen with a redesign!  Even if you are on a tight budget you can add life to your aging kitchen with a splash of color or maybe new appliances.  Just because your kitchen has a few years under its belt does not mean it has to feel that way.  Give your kitchen the facelift it deserves!

Take Your Kitchen From Old To New

Hello! It’s the 21st century and it’s time your kitchen looked like it. There are plenty of techniques that can transform your older kitchen into a modern one without losing the vintage feel and character of your older home.

Here are a few tips to flip your kitchen into a beautiful, comfortable kitchen you’ll LOVE to cook in:

  • Add a splash of color:

That screaming you hear every time you are in your kitchen isn’t your 5-year-old.  It’s your vegetable print wallpaper saying, “Take me down!” Brighten up the room with a colorful paint palette. You can instantly change the look of the entire room with a single can of paint.  Don’t just stop with the walls—if your old kitchen stools, table, or cabinets are dull and worn, consider refreshing them with a new color too!

  • Update appliances:

A fresh set of appliances will do wonders to drag your outdated kitchen into the 21st century.  Stainless steel appliances are certainly on point in terms of design trends, and by updating to more energy efficient appliances you will likely see a cut in your energy bill as well.  Can’t afford all new major appliances?  Even something as simple as renewing your small appliances such as toaster or coffee maker can make a difference in the appearance of your kitchen.

  • Declutter the cooking space:

Make your morning routine a whole lot easier on yourself and your family by getting rid of all of the junk and clutter that has taken over your kitchen.  All it is doing is taking up precious counter and cabinet space that could be used more wisely for things you actually want in your kitchen, like nice dishes and pots.  Organization in the kitchen is the key to maintaining a space that you will not only want to cook in but make lots of family memories in as well!

  • Add décor:

We often focus on decorating living spaces like bedrooms and family rooms and forget about the kitchen.  While appliances and cabinets often do most of the talking in a kitchen, adding simple décor touches like a vase of fresh flowers or a piece of art on the walls will actually help to update the space and liven it up.  Check out some of these awesome ideas for decorating your kitchen for the 21st century: Decorating Ideas.

  • Upcycle:

Believe it or not, a big design trend that can bring your kitchen alive again is upcycling.  There are many things in your kitchen right now that you may think of tossing that could actually be repurposed for some pretty cool design elements.  For example, an old colander can be transformed into a pendant light that will be a definite conversation piece in your new kitchen!
