The Importance of Houzz

Today’s homeowners are the most educated we have ever had in the kitchen remodeling industry.   Because many people are choosing to remodel their homes rather than move, kitchen remodeling has been growing in popularity in Columbus, Ohio.  One of the reasons the remodeling industry has grown is because of Houzz.

Houzz was founded by a couple who was renovating their home and found it difficult to communicate with their architect.  They created an online platform to help others communicate with their design professional.  Since 2009, Houzz has grown to over 3 million photos uploaded by remodeling and design professionals.

Design professionals, like Kitchen Kraft, are able to set up a page to showcase their work on project boards.  These boards can feature before and after photos, product descriptions and an overview of what the client wants to accomplish.  Houzz allows homeowners to post reviews of the professionals for the benefit of other homeowners, and pro to pro reviews as well.

Houzz is a wonderful tool for homeowners.  They can sign up for free or through Facebook and build Ideabooks.  They can compile all of their ideas with notes and e-mail it to their design professional before the initial meeting and anytime afterward.  We have had many clients come to our showroom and pull up their Houzz page on their tablet or on our showroom computers to compare with our products.  We encourage our clients to visit Houzz and to see all of the amazing work that is featured.  Houzz is not meant to replace the design industry, or to do your professionals work for you.  Houzz is meant to be a visual community to share ideas, references and to answer questions.
