The owners of this Powell, OH kitchen remodel were interested in maximizing their kitchen storage, updating their appliances and keeping a traditional design style. They met a kitchen designer at the Central Ohio Remodeling Expo who helped them see storage opportunities, select appliances, and keep the style they wanted.
First the designer showed them that by removing their soffit they could use a taller wall cabinet which would give them extra storage. He also suggested removing the small office area off the kitchen and replacing it with a relocated refrigerator and additional cabinets. The couple chose to move the refrigerator and install a double wall oven in its place. The new cook top, hood and dishwasher were kept in the same place.
To keep the traditional design the homeowners chose maple cabinets with an alder finish, and crown molding was added to create a seamless look. Dark granite was complimented by a tiled backsplash with gray grout. All of the appliances, except the cook top, were stainless steel which added an element of reflection and cleanliness to the design. The couple also chose to keep their current hardwood floor, the color which added a touch of warmth to the overall design.
